The Gelsia Group, founded in 2008, represents the legacy of the experience and history of municipal companies that, since the early 1900s, have provided the main public services to the citizens of Brianza. Gelsia is one of the first multiutility in Lombardy for turnover and customers served. It carries out its activities in the fields of electricity, gas, heat and environmental services.
Energy management system and ISO 50001 certification: a unique management and control tool

The certification of the Energy Management System (SGE) represents the attestation of compliance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 50001:2011, to which they can adhere, voluntarily, companies and organisations wishing to improve their energy efficiency performance.
The ISO 50001 standard is strongly oriented towards encouraging and promoting the use of best practices to reduce energy consumption and implement energy efficiency actions. The SGE is implemented through the analysis of processes and their constant monitoring through the definition of performance indicators (Enpi).
The certification of the system shall include an annual oversight activity through an audit carried out by the certification body and a complete recertification every three years. The maintenance of the SGE requires a considerable effort in the collection, processing and transformation of the energy data of the company in order to provide the company management with summary information on the performance of its energy performance.
The Plant Management Department of Gelsia was looking for a tool that could rationalize, accelerate and automate the process of extraction, processing and analysis of information related to energy consumption and performance of the company.
